This article explains how to choose the source of the timesheet data that goes to payroll. By default, payroll is fed by the timesheet, leave and overtime modules. If both the Timesheet and PDKS modules are off in your company and you have never saved this setting, the default is the other way round: Enter Timesheet on the Payroll Screen starts switched on, because no module would bring timesheet data to payroll. A setting you have saved always applies. If you do not keep the timesheet in these modules and want to make all entries directly on the payroll screen, switch on Enter Timesheet on the Payroll Screen. The setting requires the PAY_SLIP_MANAGER permission.
Before you start
Your company must be using the Payroll module (Payroll).
Review your entries in the open payroll period before changing the setting.
Step by step
In the left menu, go to Configuration > Payroll calculation > Settings.
Open the Payroll Calculation Settings tab.
Switch Enter Timesheet on the Payroll Screen on (or off).
Save the settings.
Result
While the setting is on:
The timesheet, leave and overtime modules are not read into payroll. Overtime converted to payment and approved leave do not come into payroll automatically either.
Payroll rows start as a full month (7.5 hours per day); all timesheet entries are made on the payroll screen.
When you enter missing days, normal working days are reduced automatically (balance rule). For hourly (part-time) employees only total hours are entered; worked days are hours ÷ 7.5 rounded up, the remaining days count as missing days and the missing-day reason defaults to part-time work (05).
Your entries are kept after recalculation and after the period is reopened.
When a period is closed, its timesheet source is stored with the period; changing the setting later does not affect closed periods. Open periods are calculated with the company's current setting.
While the setting is off (the default), payroll reads Timesheet List, approved leave and converted overtime marked Paid (Managing the timesheet list).
Common problems
Symptom: Approved leave or overtime does not reach payroll.
Cause: Enter Timesheet on the Payroll Screen is on.
Solution: In this mode, enter leave and overtime on the payroll screen, or switch the setting off.
Symptom: Payroll preview or calculation stops with "The timesheet has days with no entry this month".
Cause: The setting is off (the timesheet is read from the module) and the employee has days with no timesheet entry this month; they count as missing days and reduce the salary. No missing day reason is selected, so the calculation stops.
Solution: Enter the timesheet in Timesheet List, select a reason in the Missing Day Reason column on the payroll screen, or, if you do not keep the timesheet in the module, switch on Enter Timesheet on the Payroll Screen.
Symptom: Entering missing days changed the number of normal days.
Cause: The balance rule keeps the total days equal to the days in the month.
Solution: This is expected; if you also enter normal days, the remaining difference is written to missing days.
