This article explains how to pick a scenario on AI Simulation > Practice and hold a written or voice conversation with the AI customer. Everyone with the AI Simulation Employee Permission does this; managers and admins can practise as well.
Before you start
Growth and hiring > AI Simulation > Practice shows in the left menu. If it does not, you have no permission or the module is off (AI Simulation module overview).
For voice conversations your computer or your phone's browser has a microphone. Headphones are recommended.
Choosing a scenario
In the left menu go to AI Simulation > Practice.
My tasks at the top lists the simulations and training tracks assigned to you that are not finished yet, by due date. Each task is one row: its full name (with Exam mode next to it when it applies), and under it the customer's name and role, your attempts and the pass score; a training track shows how many steps are done and the next step. The due date (days left; nothing when there is no due date) and Start sit on the right; Start or the row itself opens the start window. The page shows up to 3 tasks; if there are more, See all lists them in a window, with the steps of each training track in order. With no assigned task, this area shows a short welcome and a Start the recommended one button.
The My progress card on the right (under your tasks on a phone) shows your level, XP, the XP left to the next level, your streak and how many practices you did this week. If your company turned on the leaderboard, this month's top 3 and your rank appear under it. The My recent attempts card at the bottom lists as many of your latest conversations as fit in the column, with their score or state; click one to open its result in a window, and See all goes to My history. If you have not practised yet, the card shows the How it works steps and a Start your first practice button (side by side and without the button when the leaderboard is on). When the screen is too short for this card, it is left out and the card above reaches the bottom of the column.
Scenarios sit in one list and each scenario shows once. Choose a category with the tabs at the top (All, Sales, Call centre, Retail and front desk, Written channel, Company scenarios and so on; each shows its number of scenarios). In All, with no search or filter, a short Recommended for you row comes first; these are the first scenarios of the list, they are included in the counts and do not show twice.
Narrow the list with the Search scenario or customer box and the Sector, Mode, Difficulty and Language chips; Duration is under Add filter. The Language chip first shows the scenarios in your interface language (Türkçe in the Turkish interface, English in the others); choose All to see the scenarios in both languages together. Sort orders by name, duration or your best score; when nothing matches, Clear filters brings the list back.
Each card shows the customer's name and role, the scenario name, a short context sentence, the sector and the approximate duration; when a scenario can only be done in one mode it says Written only or Voice only; if you tried it before, your best score is at the top right. Difficulty and language only show when they differ from the default. Click a card.
Starting the conversation
In the Get ready to practise window:
The scenario name and a short description come first, then the customer card: the customer's name, age, occupation and city; the customer's hidden intent and mood are not shown.
Read your role, goal and what counts as success under Your task. If you came from an assignment, the due date, pass score, attempts left and exam mode show in a blue strip.
Under How do you want to talk? choose the Written or Voice card. Voice cannot be chosen when voice is off in your company or for this scenario, when the assignment is written only, or when your mobile app version does not support voice; the reason is shown. In a voice assignment you can still choose Written if you do not want to talk; your manager sees it as a written alternative.
Choose the Difficulty. If the assignment fixes it, the choice is locked.
Turn live tips on or off with Coach tips. Exam-mode assignments turn the tips off and lock them.
The approximate duration and the credit note are at the bottom; if you have not accepted the privacy notice yet, that is mentioned too. Click Start the conversation.
Before your first simulation (and when the text changes) the privacy notice opens. Read it and click I have read and understood; then the conversation starts. This is not explicit consent.
If you have a conversation in progress, the window says so: Continue returns to it, End it and start a new one closes it and starts the new one. If your credit is not enough, a window that leads to buying credit opens.
Written conversation
The conversation screen fills the whole area. The top strip shows the customer's name, the permanent AI customer tag, the scenario name, the time left (red in the last minute) and the turn counter (5/40 turns).
In an outbound call you start; in an inbound call and in a written channel the customer sends the first message.
Type your message in the box at the bottom. Enter sends, Shift+Enter adds a new line; up to 1000 characters.
Messages flow as chat bubbles: the customer's on the left, yours on the right. While the customer is typing, a "typing…" indicator shows and the box is locked. If the reply takes longer than 20 seconds, "The connection is slow, please wait…" shows; after 45 seconds without a reply Send again appears. When the customer cannot be reached, Try again asks for the last reply again.
To finish, click End conversation and confirm. The customer can end the conversation too: after your first three messages, once they have decided, or when you clearly refuse what they ask for (right away if you insult them twice). A message in which the customer asks you something never closes the conversation; they wait for your answer and ask for a step you have not offered yet, such as an appointment or a solution. The conversation also closes when the time or turn limit is reached.
The "The conversation is being scored" screen moves through its steps; the full-screen result opens when the score is ready (Reading a simulation result).
Voice conversation
When you start a voice conversation, the browser asks for the microphone; allow it.
Choose your microphone from Microphone. Say something: if the level bar moves, the microphone works. The notice on the screen says that this is a training conversation with an AI customer and that your speech is transcribed; if audio recording is on, it also says how many days the recording is kept.
Click Start the call. In an outbound call you first hear a 2-second ring.
The call screen shows the customer's large avatar and name, the status (Connecting, Ringing, Speaking, Listening) and the time spent and left. Rings spread around the avatar while the customer speaks, and sound bars move while you speak. What is said appears in the Live captions card (silence does not show as a caption line); the Live captions button turns them off. Mute turns your microphone off (the icon is crossed out) and Unmute turns it back on. When the captions box fills up, the newest line stays in view; scroll up to read earlier lines.
If you speak while the customer is talking, the customer stops and listens.
Close the call with End call. The customer can hang up too: when a rule of the scenario ends the conversation (for example a sentence that should not be said), the customer says goodbye, the call closes by itself once the goodbye is over and the conversation is scored. If the customer asks something before saying goodbye, you can answer; the call closes with the goodbye, or within about 20 seconds when none comes. If the connection drops, it reconnects once within a few seconds; otherwise the conversation is scored with what was said so far. If the line closes after the customer's goodbye, it does not reconnect.
If the browser reports that the page turns the microphone off, the conversation screen reloads itself once; if it is still off, it says "The microphone is turned off on this page (a site setting)." If the microphone is not allowed or not found, the screen also says why; Continue in writing starts the same scenario as a written conversation. In the mobile app, voice conversations need a current app version that supports the microphone; an older version suggests updating the app or opening teamso.com in a browser, and you can also continue in writing.
Coach tip
When coach tips are on, a wide screen keeps a Coach panel to the right of the conversation: the newest tip in a yellow card (for example "Understand the need before the price") and the earlier ones under it. On narrow screens and phones a new tip shows above the message box for 8 seconds; tapping it or the bulb button in the top strip lists the last 5 tips in a sheet from the bottom. A tip is always written to you: one whole sentence that says what to do or ask the customer now (for example "Ask how often she uses the car"). The coach does not suggest a step you have already taken in the conversation (for example the recording notice, asking why the customer wants to cancel, offering an option or comparing figures with the competitor) or a tip it has already given, does not suggest a yes/no question right after suggesting an open question, and does not name a product, option, form or document the scenario does not have. A tip that reminds you of a required phrase you have not said yet gives it as the line for you to say (for example "Do not forget to say: ..." or "Use this phrase: '...'"); the tip itself never starts with that phrase. Tips come at most every second turn, do not affect the score and also appear in the transcript on the result page. Voice calls get tips too: a few seconds after you speak, once your words are transcribed, the tip shows in the Coach panel on a wide screen, and right above the call buttons for 8 seconds on narrow screens and phones (the buttons and their labels stay visible); during the call the bulb button in the top strip opens the latest tips.
XP, levels and streaks
Every scored conversation earns XP equal to your score times the difficulty factor: Easy 1, Medium 1.5, Hard 2. At most 3 attempts of the same scenario per day earn XP. Preview attempts earn none.
Levels: Rookie, Developing, Competent, Master, Expert, Coach, Leader.
The streak counts working days with at least one scored attempt; it resets when you miss a working day, and weekends and public holidays do not count.
If your company turned on the Leaderboard, the Practice page shows this month's top 3 and your rank. See all opens the table in a window where you choose the period (This week, This month, This quarter) and the scope (Company, Branch, Department). Hide yourself with Hide me from the leaderboard at the bottom of the window; your name then shows as "Hidden participant".
Your simulation tasks on the home page
Simulations assigned to you that are not finished yet appear in the Your tasks part of the Inbox on the home page with the Simulation type and their due date. Start opens the scenario's start window; a training track assignment takes you to the track card on the Practice page. The number next to Practice in the left menu also shows your pending assignments.
With Edit home page > Add card you can add the My simulation tasks card. It shows up to 4 pending assignments by due date, your level, XP and streak; Practise opens the Practice page.
My history
My history at the top right has two sections:
My attempts lists all your attempts with score, result and status. Narrow it with the status tabs, the Search scenarios box, the Mode and Result chips (Type under Add filter) and Sort. A row opens the result in a window; an attempt in progress takes you back to the conversation.
My certificates shows the certificates of the training tracks you completed. A row opens the certificate window; Download PDF downloads it.
A result link in a notification or an e-mail also opens My history and shows the result in a window.
Common problems
Symptom: Voice cannot be chosen.
Cause: Voice is off in your company or for the scenario, the assignment is written only, or your app version does not support voice.
Fix: Check the reason in the window; with an older app version, update the app or open teamso.com in a browser.
Symptom: "You have used this month's voice minutes."
Cause: The monthly voice minutes per person are used up.
Fix: Continue in writing or ask an admin to raise the limit.
