Editing your home page

Explains how to add, remove, order (by dragging or with the keyboard) and move cards to another group in edit mode, how to name groups and set their auto-advance time, the Suggested cards strip, the Team today, Celebrations and My overtime card…

The cards on the home page sit in four groups: My day, Team and celebrations, From the company and Tools. On first use Teamso builds a layout that fits your permissions; this article explains how to change that layout for yourself. The layout is yours alone: your changes do not affect any other employee's home page. No special permission is needed.

Editing does not change the other parts of the home page (the day panel and the inbox); for those, see Using the home page.

Before you start

  • Sign in to Teamso and go to Mine > Home in the left menu.

  • If a card is not in the list of cards you can add, that card's module is turned off for your company or you do not have the permission for it.

Step by step

1. Turning on edit mode

  1. In the welcome card, open the quick actions' ⋯ menu and choose Edit home page. You can also choose Edit home page from a slot's ⋯ menu. On a phone the button is at the bottom of the page.

  2. The You are editing your home page section opens in place of the cards. The counter next to the title shows how many cards you use (for example 9 / 12 cards). Each group is a column, and the cards are listed in the order they have on the home page.

    Home page edit mode

Cards do not rotate in edit mode. Every change is saved at once; the status text in the header shows Saving.... When you are finished, click Done.

2. Adding a card

  1. Click Add a card to this group under the group you want. The Add card panel opens from the right (from the bottom on a phone).

  2. The list shows the cards you can add to that group with a short description. Click Add next to the card you want. The card is added to the end of the group.

When a card leaves room in its body, a Suggested cards strip appears under the card on the home page: up to 3 cards you have not added yet, each with Add. Clicking Add puts the card at the end of its own group. The strip shows in one place only, on the card with the most room; it does not show in edit mode, at the 12-card limit or in a support session.

Limits:

  • The home page can hold up to 12 cards. The counter counts only the cards you can see; a card whose module was turned off or whose permission was removed stays in the layout but is hidden. When you add a card at the limit, a hidden card leaves the layout. At the limit the panel says "You can add up to 12 cards. Remove one to add another." and the Add buttons are turned off.

  • A group can hold up to 6 cards. If you try to move a card into a full group, "A group can hold up to 6 cards." appears.

  • When there is nothing left to add, the panel says "There are no other cards to add."

3. Ordering cards and moving them to another group

  1. On a wide screen with a mouse, hold the card by the handle (three lines) at the start of its row and drag it: drop it in the same column to change its position, or in another column to change its group. A thin line shows where it will land.

  2. Use the up or down arrow on a card's row to move it by one position. The card at the end of a group moves into the next group with the arrow.

  3. To move a card straight to another group, click the two-way arrow button (Move to group) on its row and choose the group from the menu.

With the keyboard: go to the handle and press Space to pick the card up, use the up and down arrows to move it within the group and the left and right arrows to move it to the next group, then press Space to drop it. Esc cancels the move and the card goes back to its place.

The new place of a moved card is also announced to screen readers (for example "Celebrations moved to position 2 in From the company."). On the home page, My day cards show as tiles and the cards of the other groups show in rotating slots in this order.

On narrow screens some groups share a slot; edit mode shows a note about this (for example "On this screen width, Team and celebrations rotate together with From the company."). Your groups are not lost and show separately again on a wide screen.

4. Removing a card

  1. In edit mode, click the cross on the card's row. The card is removed at once.

  2. To remove a card from the home page while it is in a slot, choose Remove card from the slot's ⋯ menu. "Card removed." and Undo appear in the bottom corner; if you click Undo within 8 seconds, the card comes back to its place with its settings.

The settings of a removed card are deleted too; if you add the card again later, you choose its settings from scratch.

5. Changing a group's name and auto-advance time

You can give a group your own name (for example Sales team instead of Team and celebrations):

  1. In edit mode, click the pencil (Edit group name) next to the group name.

  2. Type the new name and press Enter; a name can have up to 40 characters. Esc leaves the name as it was. If you clear the name and save, the group goes back to its default name.

The new name shows in the edit column and in the slot header on the home page.

You can choose how many seconds the cards in a rotating slot stay before the next one, separately for each group. My day does not rotate, so it has no such setting.

  1. In edit mode, choose Off, 6 s, 8 s or 12 s in the time box in the group's header. Auto-advance in a slot's ⋯ menu changes the same setting.

  2. With Off, the slot does not rotate by itself; you switch between cards with the tabs.

The default time is 8 seconds.

6. Cancelling and resetting to the default

  • Cancel: undoes all the changes you made since you turned on edit mode and closes it.

  • Reset to default: click Reset to default in the confirmation window to return your cards to the layout Teamso builds for you. Group names and auto-advance times go back to the default too. The settings you chose for cards (weather, world clocks, shortcuts, Team today, Celebrations, My overtime) are kept.

7. Changing a card's settings

The Weather, World clocks, My shortcuts, Team today, Celebrations and My overtime cards have settings. When a card has no setting open to you, Settings does not show in the menu.

  1. If the card is in My day, click its tile, then click the gear (Settings) in the header of the window that opens. If the card is in a slot, choose Settings from the slot's ⋯ menu.

  2. Change the values in the settings window and click Save. To back out, click Cancel; the card does not change.

If the settings are too long, the window says "The settings are too long. Remove some choices and try again." and nothing is saved.

Team today settings

Card settings:

  • Team today: Scope sets whose leaves the card and the This week strip show (My team, My branches, or Whole company if you are responsible for all branches). Your leave visibility rule and the branches you are responsible for decide the options; with a single option this setting does not show and the card only names the scope. With Show attendance off, the card hides the attendance counts and recent activity; this setting shows only to PDKS managers who also see the leave section.

  • Celebrations: with Show work anniversaries off, today's moment shows only birthdays. The setting shows to people who see the celebration feed.

  • My overtime: Period sets whether the total covers This month or the Last 30 days.

In the My shortcuts window, tick the pages you use often and click Save; you can choose up to 6 pages. The list only contains pages you have permission for.

8. Choosing cities for the weather

The Weather card shows the current weather and a 3-day forecast for up to 4 cities you choose.

  1. If the card is not on your home page, add Weather to the My day group in edit mode.

  2. The card opens with the weather at your branch's location. If your branch has no location (latitude and longitude), the card says Choose a location; click Choose city to open the settings window.

  3. To add cities, open the card's settings (step 7). The Weather settings window opens.

  4. Type the city name in the Add a city box (at least 2 letters) and pick the city from the list. Cities whose name starts with what you type come first, and on a Turkish screen cities in Türkiye come first at the same level (for example typing "iz" lists İzmir before Izola). The city is added to the end of the Your cities list. You cannot add the same city twice. A city you only type and do not pick from the list is not added: if you click Save while the box holds a name you have not picked, the window stays open and says "... was not picked from the list".

  5. Use the up and down arrows on a row to change the order, and the cross to remove it. Your branch shows in the list with the note Your branch location; you can move or remove it too.

  6. Click Save.

    Weather settings window

You can add at most 4 cities. After the fourth city the search box turns off and the window says "You can add at most 4 cities. Remove one before adding another." If you leave no city in the list, the card shows the weather at your branch again.

What the card shows:

  1. With more than one city, city tabs are at the top of the card; click a tab to switch cities.

  2. The city name, a condition icon, the temperature (°C) and the condition text (e.g. Partly cloudy).

  3. The Feels like temperature, today's Low and High, wind and humidity.

  4. A short forecast for Today, Tomorrow and the day after: high and low temperature and precipitation when expected.

  5. At the bottom, the Last updated time (only while data is shown) and the data source (Data: MET Norway).

    Weather card

The card refreshes by itself every 30 minutes while the page is open; it does not refresh while the tab is in the background. Teamso does not ask your browser or phone for location permission: weather is only fetched for the cities you choose and your branch's saved location.

9. Choosing cities for world clocks

The World clocks card shows your device's time in the My time row at the top and, below it, the local time in up to 6 cities you choose.

  1. If the card is not on your home page, add World clocks in edit mode. Then open the card's settings (step 7); the World clocks settings window opens.

  2. Type a city or country name in the Add a city box and pick the city from the list. You can also click the arrow on the right of the box to see the whole list. The city is added to the end of the Your cities list; a city that is already in the list cannot be picked. When you type a city that has no time zone of its own (for example Ankara, Mumbai, Washington), the city that uses the same time is suggested.

  3. To give a city another name, type the new name in the box on its row (for example "London office"). If you leave the box empty, the city's name is shown. A name can be at most 40 characters.

  4. Use the up and down arrows on a row to change the order and the cross icon to remove it.

  5. Under Time format, choose By language, 24-hour or 12-hour. With By language, Turkish shows 24-hour time (14:30) and English shows 12-hour time (2:30 PM).

  6. Click Save.

    The World clocks settings window

You can add up to 6 cities. After the sixth city the search box is disabled and "You can add up to 6 cities. Remove one before adding a new city." appears. If you add no cities, the card shows only My time and an Add cities button.

What the card shows:

  1. My time: your device's time and the city of its time zone. The difference of each city is given against this time.

  2. The city's name (or the name you gave it) and its local time (hours and minutes).

  3. The difference from your time: 3 h ahead or 2 h behind for whole hours, +2:30 and the like for half hours. Same time means there is no difference. If the date in the city differs from yours, Tomorrow or Yesterday appears before the difference.

  4. A sun icon in the daytime (between 06:00 and 18:00) and a moon icon at night.

    The World clocks card

The times are worked out on your device from each city's time zone, so daylight saving changes (for example London, New York) apply by themselves. The card updates at the start of every minute and shows no seconds. While the tab is in the background it stops updating; when you come back to the tab the time is refreshed at once. On a phone the card takes the full width in a single column.

Result

Your layout is saved to your account. When you open Teamso on another computer or in your phone's browser, you see the same cards in the same groups, in the same order and with the same settings. While you have never edited it, Teamso keeps your default layout up to date as your permissions change; once you edit it, your layout stays as it is, and Reset to default moves you to the current default again.

Common problems

Symptom: The Edit button does not show.
Cause: The Teamso support team is viewing your account in a support session. In a support session the home page is read-only.
Solution: The button shows again when the support session ends.

Symptom: After a change, "Change could not be saved. Try again" appears and the card goes back to its old place.
Cause: The change could not be saved on the server (a connection problem or a card limit).
Solution: Try again a little later. You can find the limits in step 2.

Symptom: After a change, "Your home page layout was reloaded. Please make the change again." appears.
Cause: Your saved layout could not be read from the server when the page opened (for example a short connection break), so the default layout was on the screen for a while. The change was not saved, so that the default layout does not overwrite your saved cities and settings; your saved layout was loaded again.
Solution: Make the change once more.

Symptom: A card I added does not show on the home page.
Cause: The card's module was turned off for your company or the permission for the card was taken away from you. The card stays in your layout but is not shown.
Solution: Ask your manager. When the module or permission comes back, the card shows in the same place.

Symptom: The Weather card says Choose a location.
Cause: You have not chosen a city and your branch has no location (latitude and longitude).
Solution: Click Choose city and add a city. An administrator can enter the branch location in the branch settings.

Symptom: The Weather card says "May be out of date", "Weather is not available right now" or "Weather for this location is not available right now".
Cause: The weather service cannot be reached right now. If data is available, the last data received is shown.
Solution: You do not need to do anything; the card tries again by itself within a few minutes.

Symptom: While searching for a city, "Too many searches. Try again in a minute." appears.
Cause: More than 30 searches were made within a minute.
Solution: Wait a minute and search again.

Symptom: A city you added does not show on the World clocks card.
Cause: Your browser or your phone's older operating system does not know that city's time zone. The rest of the card keeps working.
Solution: Update your browser or your phone's operating system.

Symptom: My time or the time difference of the cities looks wrong.
Cause: The card uses your device's clock and time zone; the device's time or time zone is set wrong.
Solution: In the device's date and time settings, turn on setting the time and time zone automatically.

Symptom: A card says "This card could not load."
Cause: An error occurred while the card's content was loading. The other cards and the home page are not affected.
Solution: Click Try again on the card. If the problem continues, refresh the page.
